Simon Edelman has a decade of experience in visual storytelling through video and photography. As Creative Director, Simon provides comprehensive, in-house video capabilities and award-winning media expertise to Central Strategies’ wide-range of clients.
Simon is an Emmy® award-winning producer and has excelled in many creative roles – from editing programs for Discovery Health Channel to producing at Comedy Central. With a background in political campaign advertising, television and motion pictures, documentaries and still photography, Simon provides clients with expertise and effective deliverables across multiple media platforms.
Prior to joining Central Strategies and its sister company Resolute Consulting, Simon served as Creative Director for Illinois Governor Pat Quinn’s successful 2010 gubernatorial campaign. Simon is known for a Glee-inspired television advertisement that quickly went viral on the Web. In March 2011 he accepted a prestigious Pollie Award for the spot.
In his work on behalf of Governor Quinn for the primary and general elections, Simon applied an unorthodox approach to communicating the Governor’s unique story to the public. Simon was critically acclaimed for several of the television spots and Internet videos that he produced and received the 2010 Funniest Political Ad of the season award from the prestigious U.K-based Guardian.com.
Prior to working on Governor Quinn’s campaign, Simon was based on the West Coast as a freelance producer, writer and photographer. He has produced behind-the-scenes photos and videos for FOX Television, Hyundai, and the Rogue Artist Ensemble and was recruited to produce a presentation for philosopher and antiquities expert Robert Hahn’s expeditions to Egypt, Greece and Turkey.
Simon graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in cinema/photography and a concentration in producing and documentary filmmaking.
