Jake Braun has more than a decade of experience in politics, public affairs and journalism. He provides political and public engagement expertise to Central Strategies’ wide range of clients.
Jake leads Central Strategies in designing and implementing political campaigns in the U.S. and abroad, focusing on direct voter contact, new media, data management, micro targeting, earned media and campaign management. In addition, he serves as an executive vice president for Resolute Consulting, Central Strategies' sister company.
Jake served as the National Deputy Field Director on Barack Obama’s successful campaign for president and oversaw the execution of state field plans and implementation of the campaign’s national voter protection campaign.
He has broad experience on national, state and local campaigns, including John Kerry’s 2004 presidential bid (Michigan field director), and consultant to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee.
After his role in President Obama’s campaign, Jake went on to lead the Presidential Transition Team as Deputy Director for National Security Agencies Review. He then went on to serve as Director of White House and Public Liaison for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he managed public outreach and engagement efforts. He oversaw the Department’s community relations and strategic communications for the 2010 Deep Water Gulf Oil Spill. Jake also advised senior intelligence staff on public engagement with state and local law enforcement related to domestic terrorism policy. In addition, he directed the department’s global marketing efforts to promote U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s Trusted Traveler program and oversaw public and legislative efforts to secure passage of a data-sharing pact with the European Union.
He holds two Master of Arts degrees, one in International Relations from Troy State University and an MA in education from National-Louis University in Chicago. Jake is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.
